Purvi Patel

General Counsel and Board Secretary

Purvi Patel is the General Counsel and Board Secretary of Grameen America.  Ms. Patel brings in-depth experience in financial services, regulatory compliance, and community-oriented economic development to her current role. Prior to Grameen, she was appointed by Governor Newsom to the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation as Deputy Commissioner of Credit Unions, where she oversaw the chartering, supervision, and examination of California-chartered credit unions.  While at DFPI, she was a member of the Board of Directors at the National Association for State Credit Union Supervisors.

Previously, Ms. Patel was Assistant General Counsel at Self-Help Federal Credit Union and served as a Senior Fellow at the New York City Economic Development Corporation. Early in her legal career, she worked in private practice, focusing on financial services compliance.
