Grameen America Celebrates Bay Area Success

Grameen America hosted a Bay Area Reception with Professor Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and Grameen America Founder, in January. Grameen America members and supporters gathered to celebrate a remarkable accomplishment, reaching over 500 low-income women in the Bay Area.

Professor Yunus joined Grameen America staff to celebrate the local success and thank supporters for spearheading the west coast movement. Chevron was instrumental in bringing Grameen America to the Bay Area. Lauren Lyon, Partnerships and Programs Specialist for Chevron Corporation, explains their role. “We are pleased to partner with Grameen America to help create economic opportunities for people in the Bay Area. We understand that our success is linked to the economic health of our community." To date, Grameen America has invested in nearly 14,000 women across the United States. Professor Yunus shared his inspiring philosophy to fight poverty and left guests with a vision for lasting change in the Bay Area.
