Our Program

Bridging the gap between health and financial security.

As part of the Promotoras program, community health workers, known as Promotoras, specialize in delivering health-related workshops at select weekly Grameen America Center Meetings. Additionally, Promotoras work directly with participating members to create individualized health plans, make referrals to local providers, and help with healthcare system navigation.

Basic Health Screenings

Promotoras provide access to the ADA Diabetes Type 2 Risk Assessment, blood pressure monitoring and sugar level (HbA1c) testing.

Health Conversation Workshops

Through educational workshops delivered in the weekly center meetings, the community health workers increase members’ knowledge and awareness of health-related topics, such as women’s health, nutrition, health literacy, physical activity, and disease management.

Health System Navigation & Referrals

Promotoras provide assistance in identifying and utilizing existing community resources such as low-cost or free preventive care options, including primary care, dental and vision services, cancer screenings, and social services.
