Elizabeth F Caraballo
General Counsel & Board Secretary
Elizabeth F. Caraballo is General Counsel and Board Secretary at Grameen America, Inc. In this role, Elizabeth serves as the chief legal advisor and counsel to Grameen and its Board of Directors. As a strategic business partner and member of Grameen’s senior leadership team she advises on all legal, compliance, strategic and new initiatives matters. In addition, Elizabeth is an adjunct professor at Ramapo College of New Jersey, where she teaches courses on Race Relations, Deviance, Human Rights, and Sociology.
Prior to joining Grameen, Elizabeth served as General Counsel and Senior Director of Risk Management at The Bowery Mission (TBM) in NYC for nearly 9 years, where she established and directed the first in-house legal department in TBM’s 145+ years of existence. Prior to TBM, Elizabeth co-founded, established and managed The Waterfront Project, Inc. (WFP), a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit providing free legal advocacy to New Jersey residents. Her work at WFP, earned her a Proclamation from the City of Hoboken for Public Service Contribution and a nomination to the Russ Berrie Making a Difference Award, Honoring NJ Heroes.
Earlier in her legal career, Elizabeth served as an associate at Tressler LLP and clerked for The Honorable Thomas P. Zampino, J.S.C. (Ret’ d) of the New Jersey Superior Court, Chancery Division, Family Part, Essex Vicinage. Elizabeth earned her B.A. in International Business from Ramapo College of New Jersey, and Juris Doctor from Seton Hall School of Law. While in law school, she was selected for the Family Law Clinic and was the recipient of numerous scholarships. Since 2016, Elizabeth has proudly served as a member of the Supreme Court of New Jersey, Committee on Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement (previously known as Supreme Court of New Jersey’s Committee on Minority Concerns).
