Aissatou Barry- Fall

Aissatou Barry-Fall is the President and CEO of the Lower East Side People’s Federal Credit Union, a nationally recognized Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) dedicated to providing high-quality financial services to low-income, immigrant, and other underserved communities in New York City.

Aissatou began her journey with the Credit Union in 1991 as a part-time Teller and, through dedication and hard work, has advanced through a series of leadership roles including Head Teller, Fiscal Officer, Operations Manager, and Chief Financial Officer before becoming CEO. Her leadership has helped the Credit Union uphold its mission—serving over 90,000 families and reinvesting more than $150 million into local neighborhoods, earning multiple federal awards for its commitment to economic justice and financial inclusion.

A strategic and results-oriented executive, Aissatou has extensive experience in financial analysis, budgeting, growth strategy, and team management. She is recognized for her innovative problem-solving skills, dedication to staff development, and ability to lead high-performing teams. She has overseen all aspects of the credit union operations, including regulatory compliance, financial management, strategic planning, fundraising, and community relations. Aissatou is committed to empowering her team and fostering open communication, professional development, and internal advancement.

Originally from Guinea, West Africa—a country known for its rich cultural and religious diversity—Aissatou is fluent in five languages and brings a global perspective that resonates with the communities served by the Credit Union. She is recognized for her collaborative leadership style and commitment to empowering both her team and the broader community.

Aissatou Barry-Fall pursued a degree in Linguistics at the University of Gamal Abdel Naser in Conakry, Guinea. She continued her studies in the United States and in 2001, she earned a Bachelor of Science from the College of Staten Island, New York and graduated from the CUNA Management School in 2005. Aissatou was also involved in community organizations, including the African Coalition of Staten Island, New York State Assembly Volunteer, Parent Leadership Team of PS 44 Staten Island. She has also provided technical assistance to fellow credit unions across New York City.
