We are pleased to announce the Grand Opening of Grameen America in Charlotte. New members received their micro-loans in December.
Gladys, our first member, moved to Charlotte twelve years ago to create a better life for her five children. Gladys invested the $1,000 microloan from Grameen America into her Honduran food business with the hope of opening a restaurant in the future.
Fellow member Betty received a $1,200 microloan to expand her clothing business which she pursues at a local flea market. Betty is particularly passionate about Grameen America’s savings program - a safe place to save is critical for her family and her business. We are grateful to our loyal local community who have actively raised the funds to needed  to make these women's dreams come true. Charlotte Media: Charlotte Observer Channel 9 Charlotte
