Whole Foods Market Opens in Detroit

Grameen America was proud to celebrate the grand opening of Whole Foods Market in Detroit on June 5th. Whole Foods Market Co-CEO, Walter Robb, and Detroit Mayor, David Bing joined local residents to celebrate the event. Grameen America and Whole Foods Market held a joint reception at Wayne State University that evening to celebrate our enduring partnership and investment in the city of Detroit. Walter Robb announced the $1M commitment to Grameen America through Whole Planet Foundation, the company's non-profit dedicated to alleviating poverty worldwide.

Meet Teresa

Teresa sells a variety of sliced fruit and vegetables out a food cart in Oakland. She is particularly known for her Mexican specialties: Spiced fruit and corn pudding. With her next loan, Teresa would like to purchase a light to operate her cart in the evening. With two more hours of operating in the morning and evening, Teresa will be one step closer to fulfilling her dream: to purchase a second food cart to operate in Alameda.
