Grameen America Celebrates Bay Area Success

Grameen America hosted a Bay Area Reception with Professor Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and Grameen America Founder, in January. Grameen America members and supporters gathered to celebrate a remarkable accomplishment, reaching over 500 low-income women in the Bay Area.

Grameen America chosen for Whole Foods "Nickels for Nonprofits" Drive

We are proud to announce that Grameen America has been chosen for Whole Foods “Nickels for Nonprofits” drive.  Whole Foods Market brings together shoppers, Whole Foods employees and suppliers in their strong commitment to poverty alleviation through microcredit. From January 21st through February 19th, every Whole Foods Market Oakland and Berkley shopper who brings in a reusable bag can donate their 5 cent credit to Grameen America. Each nickel brings our Bay Area women one step closer to fulfilling their entrepreneurial dream. 

Professor Yunus Opens Bronx Branch

On Monday, we celebrated Grameen America's sixth branch opening.

We were elated to have Professor Yunus join us for the ribbon cutting ceremony in the Bronx. As he told the audience of borrowers and supporters, "today is not just opening a branch, it's opening a future."

Whole Foods Supports Grameen America with 5% Community Giving Day

Rarely if ever is a trip to the grocery store transformed into a learning experience. I’ve always found shopping at Whole Foods to be the exception.
